Chiloschista - Lindley


An Indo-Malesian genus of 20-25 epiphytic species , Chiloschista is represented in India by 4 species. Two species are found in Kerala.

This is a very curious species with a small central stem , a bunch of green assimilatory roots and one or two drooping racemes of greenish yellow flowers .

Occurrence : Trivandrum , Idukki and Palghat Districts.

Distribution : South India (Kerala , Tamil Nadu, Karnataka) and Sri Lanka.

The heavily spotted sepals and petals characterize this species .

Occurrence : Trivandrum District .

Distribution: Regional Endemic (Karnatake, Kerala).
