Trias - Lindley


An Indo-Malesian genus of about 15 species of epiphytic orchids, Trias is represented in India by six species . Two species are found in Kerala .

1. Trias bonaccordensis Sathish , Blumea 34(1) : 105. 1989.

Trias stocksii auct. non Benth. ex. J.D. Hook .: Abraham & Vatsala 1981 : 341, pro parte, f. 80. Pl. xli b.

Occurrence : Trivandrum District.

Distribution : Regional Endemic (Kerala (type),Tamil Nadu and Karnataka .

2. Trias stocksii Benth.ex J.D Hook ., Fl. Brit. Ind. 5: 781. 1890; Santapau & Kapadia 1966: 200: Vivekananthan 1968 (1969): 241; Saldanha in Saldanha & Nicolson 1976: 853; Seidenfaden 1976: 25 ; Abraham & Vatsala 1981: 346, pro parte.

Hooker described this species after a collection by Stocks from Malabar and Concan region .

Occurrence : Trivandrum , Idukki , Thrissur and palghat Districts.

Distribution : Regional Endemic (Karnataka , Kerala , Tamil Nadu).
